Elisaveta Blumina is the Artistic Director of the Hamburg International Chamber Music Festival, a position she has held since 2012. Under her inspiring leadership, the festival has grown into a dynamic and artistically refined platform, known for its innovative programming and its strong commitment to young musicians.
Each season, she curates a diverse and thoughtfully designed program that brings together internationally acclaimed artists and outstanding emerging talents. Supporting young musicians is not just an addition, but a central artistic vision of the festival, offering them unique opportunities to perform on prestigious stages such as the Elbphilharmonie.
A defining feature of the festival is its dedication to contemporary music. Elisaveta Blumina has commissioned numerous new works from a wide range of composers, thereby actively enriching the chamber music repertoire.
The festival is also known for its compelling thematic concepts. One season, Bonjour la Russie, explored the migration of composers from Russia to France, highlighting artistic transformation across cultures. Another theme, Grenzenlos (“Without Borders”), focused on different waves of migration, creating a profound dialogue between history, identity, and music.
Concerts take place not only in the Elbphilharmonie but also in various venues throughout Hamburg and its surroundings. Elisaveta Blumina has also founded an ensemble that performs regularly at the festival, giving young musicians the opportunity to gain orchestral experience and appear on major stages.
With its excellent reputation, the festival stands as a testament to her artistic vision, combining high-level performance, intellectual depth, and a deep commitment to the next generation of musicians.
